Education & prevention

Clear guidance for everyday decisions

Start with the essentials, bring your questions to a seminar, and make decisions with your healthcare team.

Type 1 diabetes

An autoimmune condition requiring lifelong insulin. Learn about dosing routines, hypo awareness, sick-day planning and carrying emergency carbohydrates.

Type 2 diabetes

A condition affecting insulin use. Treatment may combine food choices, movement, tablets and injectable medicines, tailored by your care team.

Gestational diabetes

Raised glucose during pregnancy needs timely specialist care to protect parent and baby. Follow maternity and diabetes-team guidance.

Food & meal planning

Choose regular meals, fibre-rich carbohydrates, vegetables and appropriate portions. There is no single diet for everyone.

Movement safely

Start gradually, check glucose when advised, carry identification and fast-acting carbohydrate, and discuss new exercise with your clinician.

Monitoring & CGM

Meters and continuous glucose monitors reveal patterns. Your clinical team sets personal targets and explains trend arrows and alarms.

Daily prevention

Look after your feet every day

  • Check skin, heels and between toes for cuts, warmth or colour change.
  • Wash and dry carefully; moisturise dry skin but not between toes.
  • Wear well-fitting shoes and never treat corns with acids yourself.
  • Contact your clinician promptly for a wound, swelling or infection.

When to seek urgent help

Severe hypoglycaemia, confusion, unconsciousness, persistent vomiting, breathing difficulty or signs of ketoacidosis require urgent medical care. In Czechia call 155 or 112.
